Your Wellbeing and Safety
A gentle guide to support your wellbeing, safety, and informed choice.
At A Space to Breathe, your safety, autonomy, and wellbeing are central to every session.
These practices are designed to support your nervous system, not override it. You are always invited to move at your own pace, stay within your comfort, and choose what feels right for you in each moment.
This page offers some general guidance to help you decide what feels appropriate for your body and current experience.
A Gentle Note
All sessions offered — including breathwork, yoga, Reiki, sound therapy, and ice immersion — are supportive practices.
They are not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
If you have any health concerns, or are unsure whether a practice is right for you, you’re encouraged to check in with a qualified healthcare provider and/or reach out before booking.
Breathwork
Breathwork can be deeply supportive, and it can also be activating for the nervous system.
Please reach out before participating if you:
-
Are pregnant
-
Have cardiovascular conditions (including high blood pressure or arrhythmias)
-
Experience panic, anxiety, or unmanaged PTSD symptoms
-
Have a history of seizures or epilepsy
-
Have severe respiratory conditions
-
Are recovering from major surgery
-
Have glaucoma or retinal concerns
You are never expected to push, hold, or force the breath.
Each session is guided responsively, with space for rest, adjustment, and choice throughout. If a particular style of breathwork isn’t appropriate on a given day, gentler alternatives are always available.
Yoga
Yoga practices are offered with a focus on awareness, safety, and nervous system support.
Please check in before participating if you:
-
Are pregnant
-
Have cardiovascular, respiratory, or musculoskeletal conditions
-
Have recent injuries or surgeries
-
Have any health concerns requiring medical clearance
You are never expected to push or force any posture. Modifications and alternatives are always available, and you’re encouraged to move in a way that honours your body.
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that supports relaxation and balance.
It is designed to complement — not replace — any medical or therapeutic care you may be receiving.
If you are experiencing significant physical or emotional challenges, or are unsure if Reiki is appropriate for you, please reach out or consult your healthcare provider before booking.
Crystal Sound Therapy
Crystal sound therapy is generally gentle and accessible, though sound and vibration can affect each person differently.
Please check in before participating if you:
-
Are pregnant
-
Experience tinnitus or sound sensitivity
-
Are prone to sound-triggered migraines
-
Have a neurological condition (such as epilepsy or sensory processing differences)
-
Are navigating mental health conditions where sound or altered states may feel activating
You are always encouraged to listen to your body — whether that means resting, adjusting your position, or taking space when needed.
Ice Immersion (optional)
Ice immersion can be a powerful and activating practice for the body and nervous system.
Please seek guidance before participating if you:
-
Have cardiovascular conditions or high blood pressure
-
Have a history of fainting or dizziness
-
Are pregnant
-
Have respiratory conditions
-
Have any medical concerns that may be impacted by cold exposure
Participation is always optional, and alternative practices are available. You are encouraged to move at your own pace and never push beyond your limits.
Your Responsibility and Choice
You are the expert in your own body.
By participating in any session, you acknowledge that you are responsible for:
-
Listening to your body
-
Choosing your level of participation
-
Communicating anything relevant to your wellbeing
You are always welcome to pause, rest, or stop at any time.
A Supportive Invitation
If you’re unsure about anything, you’re warmly invited to reach out before booking.
This work is about creating space — not pressure — and supporting your system in a way that feels safe, respectful, and sustainable.
